The Media Borough “Mask Up Media” Campaign Receives Award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs

Written by Linda Rooney | November 8, 2021

November 5, 2021 – The Media Borough “Mask Up Media” Campaign was awarded a first place recognition in the Special Recognition Category in the Communications Contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB). The 2021 award winners were recognized at the PSAB Fall Leadership Conference in Erie on Saturday, October 9th.

The “Mask Up Media Campaign” was a multiple month campaign to raise awareness for mask wearing at mass gathering permitted events within the borough during the height of the pandemic and before vaccines were available (August of 2020 to December of 2020). During the August 2020 Borough Council meeting, Borough Council adopted Ordinance No. 1141 of 2020 – Requiring masks during mass gathering permitted events until the pandemic state of emergency has been lifted. In an effort to encourage compliance, residents and visitors to Media Borough were encouraged to send in photos of themselves wearing masks. The photos were shared on social media and on the borough’s website. This campaign was fun for residents and helped encourage mask usage in the business district and throughout the borough.
